Louisiana’s Small Manufacturer of the Year
Gulf South Machine was named Louisiana’s Small Manufacturer of 2017 by MEPOL, at a reception at the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge.
GSM was honored for improving its quality management system in response to the industry-wide downturn brought on by low oil prices. “We have been through and survived all of the many oil price busts over the years. We vowed this time we would not only survive, we would find a way to thrive,” said Phil Tourelle, Assistant Vice President. “We improved efficiencies in our production and delivery processes and then partnered with MEPOL to achieve ISO 9001 certification, ultimately documenting the high standards GSM customers have been relying on for years.”

MSI’s Vendor of the Year
More than a plaque: a steak dinner for all.
MSI/Dixie Iron Works held a luncheon recognizing Gulf South Machine for its decades-long commitment to quality and on-time delivery. In true Texas style, MSI brought their own grill and treated every GSM employee to lunch: perfectly grilled steaks, potatoes and all the fixins.
